Spring!

Well, looks like it is finally spring here. It's going to be in the mid 70's this week and going up to 85 by Saturday. Mark is taking this week off to do some work on our house. We are getting ready to put it up on the market in April and have some repairs and upgrades to finish before that happens. His parents are flying in from Indiana tomorrow and will be with us for a week. We are hoping to finish the bulk of the work while they are here. We got a jump start on things yesterday. Mark fixed our shower handle, replaced a screen door, and uprooted several large bushes in front of our house. I was able to finish pruning the roses, weeding the front yard and I started planting. I still have a ton of stuff to plant. I even bought tomatoes, herbs, eggplant, peppers and lettuce to start the vegetable garden. It's hard to believe I pulled up last year's tomato plants just a few months ago, and they were still producing!

Here is what we have left on our list of things to do:

Have our wood floors refinished
Paint exterior trim
Replace shower doors
Repair interior wall damage
Replace front door handle
Install closet doors
Plant plants
Make curtains
Stain deck

I'm sure there are a million more little things we need to do. It's kind of overwhelming to think about them. Wish us luck this week that we can get as much of this stuff done. Hopefully we will be all ready to list at the first of April. We really hope we sell before we have to move in July. Mark starts his fellowship in Indianapolis the first of August and we don't want to rent this place out from that far away.

Actually, we are really sad to be leaving this house. It's the longest we've lived anwhere. It is our first time owning a house. 2 our our kids were born while we lived here. We love the things we have done to the place to make it our own. We live directly across from a park. We love our neighbors (although they are selling this spring as well). The backyard is so wonderful for the kids. We'll really miss it. I hope who ever buys it loves it as much as we do and that they take really good care of it.
