No snow

Well the weatherman was wrong. It didn't snow last night. In fact, it's bright and sunny and beautiful today. Only it's 40 degrees out there. Warm! We wore out light coats out today. LOL! Funny how warm is relative. My ice scraper is still in pristine condition.

"It's COLD out there!"

Really cold. Almost freezing. In fact, it is supposed to snow tonight. I snowed a tiny bit on Thanksgiving day, but not enough to stick to the ground. Needless to say, the kids are excited! They have been asking us when it will snow since the day we moved here. I am all prepared now, the boys are supplied with boots, waterproof gloves, snow pants, parkas and hats. I had to buy all this stuff since we didn't have anything. My mother-in-law found a few of these necessities for us too. Now if we can only find a place to store it all. My coat closet is overflowing. I need a bigger coat closet. A mud room is a must in our next house.

Speaking of which. Some of you might be wondering what has become of the land we found over the summer. We have decided that it is not the place for us. We are not going to build this year and now we are house hunting. We have also decided that we want to live closer to Mark's work and the school we'd like the kids to attend. So far we like one of the houses we looked at and we'll be seeing a few more this weekend. My mom comes for her first Indiana winter visit on Wednesday so she'll get to see some of the offerings as well.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. Mark was on call all weekend so we had to stick close to home. I just baked a Turkey breast and made all the rest of the fixings, including gravy! I was quite proud of myself since I did it all in 3 hours. And the food turned out good! David was a little wary of the stuffing and Luke wouldn't touch the mashed potatoes, but Mark and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Next year we can hopefully have some family over.

Not much else to report from here. Oh, except that I bought my very first ice scraper and snow brush today! I'll let you know how it works tomorrow!

Another successful Halloween

Yep, candy was had by all (except Hannah). We had another great night of fun this year. Thankfully all three kids wore costumes we already had so I didn't have to spend a cent. David was Lightning McQueen again, Luke wore the tiger costume (this was Mark's costume when he was a little boy), and Hannah fit into the bear costume. Now all three kids have been the bear. Hannah was particularly tickled to be all dressed up. Here is a photo of the kids before we went out to gather the goods:

Our church was hosting an event called "Trunk or Treat" where people come and set up a trick or treat station out of the trunk of their cars. We thought it was kind of strange at first, but once we got there it was really cool. It was in the parking lot in front of the church building. Most trunks were decorated with anything from Football stuff, to really intricately carved pumpkins. One car was made to look like the living room of an old lady, complete with tea pots, a rocking chair and an "old" lady in knee high stockings. Another was decorated with Christmas lights and a tree. We had a lot of fun and the kids recognized several school friends and teachers. It was kind of like bringing the close community back to this holiday. Now, to figure out what to do with all that candy we collected.
