Impromptu weekend fun

Don't you love those spur of the moment weekends that end up nothing like what you thought it would be like? We had one of those this weekend and it was so much fun!

We had our second open house yesterday and instead of the mad rush, stressful preparations and frantic last minute things to do, it was really relaxed. I was able to get all the cleaning and de-cluttering done in the morning despite the fact that Mark was at work part of the time. Hannah took a nice long nap and the boys played on their own wonderfully. Our agent showed the house this time instead of someone else from his office. He is very knowledegable about our house and really easy to work with.

So, during the open house we decided to go to the Gourmet Pizza Shoppe in Redlands for lunch. Much to our surprise, there was a classic car show on State Street! They boys were so excited! We ate lunch (Luke at so fast! LOL!) and then we strolled along the street looking at all the really cool cars. Then we got to watch as all of the cars started their engines and left the show one by one. The boys had fun finding all the cars from the movie Cars. They saw a vintage fire truck that looked just like Red, a Chevy Impala that looked like Ramone, we saw 2 orange Snot Rod's, an old Woody, Flo, Fillmore, and Lizzy. After the cars left we walked down to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream.

When we got back to the house our realtor said the turnout was pretty good. He thought our house looked great and will be following up on the people who visited. Cross your fingers for an offer to come in this week!

After he left, we packed up some stuff and headed to a pool party at one of the attending's houses. They had the most awesome pool, complete with a small waterslide and hot tub. They boys enjoyed their back yard so much they didn't want to leave. We are so glad we decided to go to the party since we weren't sure if we'd make it. All in all, it was a fun day that was mostly unexpected.

New Experiences

It's amazing how life is always changing. My dad used to always say that the only thing that doesn't change is change itself. It's funny because I find myself saying that to David from time to time. It is so true. This has been a year of many new things for us as individuals and as a family.

We are in the midst of the biggest change we have yet to face as a family. We are moving 2000 miles away to Indianapolis in 2 months. We have found a place to live for the year we will be there, we have found a new school for both David and Luke, and we have a possible offer on our house after just 2 weeks on the market. I am facing paperwork for the school, looking for a reliable and affordable way to move us across the county and the great feat of purging and packing this house of stuff.

It is all very exhausting, exciting, and stressful. So many decisions to be made.

In all of this great upheaval, the perspective of a child is a wonderful reminder of the fact that nothing will stay the same forever, and that's ok. It's inevitable. Things will fall into place. Life will go on and God will always be there to take care of us. He knows what we need before we even ask.

Yesterday, my baby girl discovered grass for the first time. She is crawling and starting to pull up on things. She started solid foods a few days ago. She's growing up before my eyes. I wish I could stop this process and keep her like this forever. But, I guess I would miss all these wonderful moments of discovery and wonder. It's amazing to watch a child grow and learn. I can't think of anything more compelling. I want to capture that and one of the only ways I know how is through photos.
